How to use the change management procedure to implement change requests

Implementing change requests in an organization is not straight forward. There are certain steps that should be followed in order to implement a change that is requested. These steps are constant for any change request but it might vary slightly depending on the organization and the verticals.


A change request form should be available in the intranet of your organization if one such exists. Or you have to fill up the hard copy of the change request that is available. There is a change management committee that is set up for any process or project that would take care of the changes that are coming in. search the intranet for the change request form and fill it up.

 

Some standard information needs to be furnished in any change request form. The description of the change that is requested, the management contacts to whom the information has to be passed, the departments to which it has to be circulated, the procedures to be implemented, how that particular change would affect the existing system, the date and the time from which the change has to be effective, and the risks involved are all furnished in the change request form.

 

Once the change request is got, it is circulated to the various departments and their opinions got. If needed a meeting is also organized to discuss about the change request. Change requests that have minor impact in the organizations are implemented without organizing a meeting. Once the views of different departments are got, the necessary amendments are made to the change request and sent to the management for approval.

 

After the approval of the management, the requested change is done. A quality audit team would be testing the changes done and after the approval of the quality audit team, it is implemented. The task is not completed with the implementation, the different factors affected are measured for improvement and further tuning is done if needed.
